Getting started

How do I open a ZIP or RAR file?

Two ways:

Everything is extracted on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Why doesn’t the iPad Files app open RAR?

Apple’s Files app does not extract RAR on iPhone or iPad. That is the main reason people need ZIP & RAR Extractor. See Open RAR on iPad.

Which formats are supported?

ZIP, RAR (including RAR5), 7z, TAR, GZ and other common archive formats, plus password-protected archives.

Where do my extracted files go?

Into the app’s own storage on your device. From there you can move, share or save them to Files, iCloud Drive or any other app.

The app asks for a password

The archive is encrypted. Enter the password given to you by whoever created it. We cannot recover, reset or bypass an archive password - the encryption is part of the file itself, not of our app.

An archive fails to open

Usually the file is incomplete or corrupt - a common cause is a download that stopped early, or a multi-part archive (.part1.rar, .z01…) where not every part is present. Re-download the full file, make sure all parts are in the app, and try again. If it still fails, email us the exact error and the file extension.

Purchases

What does the Pro purchase unlock?

It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews and nothing is billed again. Pro unlocks creating password-protected ZIP archives (AES-256). Extracting remains free.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the app → Settings → Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID used to buy.

How do I get a refund?

All purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Privacy in one line

The app has no server, no account, no analytics and no tracking of our own, and extraction makes no network request. Your files never leave your device. Full detail in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
